For durations limited in time (24-48 hours) it will be sufficient to resort to low-cost short cannulas (in teflon, even without wing, without preassembled extension), leaving the 'advanced' cannulas of greater performance (in polyurethane, provided with wing and preassembled extension) to clinical situations in which a peripheral access of several days is required.
